Apatosaurus is a enormous diplodocid sauropod that measures about 4.5 meters (15 feet) tall at the hips, with a length of up to 23.09 (75.9) meters long and a weight of up to 35 metric tonnes (39 tons). As with all sauropods, Apatosaurus had a long neck, a small skull, a long muscular tail, and four columnar limbs. Its head has an arch of bone over the nasal openings in front of its eyes. Its forelimbs are slightly shorter than its hindlimbs.
