Archaeopteryx is a paravian dinosaur that has appeared throughout the Turok franchise since its inception.
It has, remarkably, not yet featured in a Turok video game despite making an appearance in almost every Turok comic book series.
Appearance[]
Archaeopteryx is a small paravian dinosaur sharing the key features of this group, including large flight feathers forming wings with clawed fingers, a long bony tail with paired display feathers running along each side, a raised middle toe claw, and a mouth full of small serrated teeth. The animal is famously known as the first "missing-link" between traditional reptiles and birds.
Comics[]
Archaeopteryx appears in every Turok comic book series with the exception of the Acclaim universe. The animal is frequently shown as an inhabitant of the Lost Land.
Turok, Son of Stone[]
- Archaeopteryx makes its first appearance in the Turok franchise in issue #3 of Gold Key's Turok, Son of Stone in the story "Strange Waters."
- Archaeopteryx features prominently in issue #30 in the story "A Chance to Escape." Turok and Andar find a black feather and believe it to be from a crow. They search for the origin of the feather hoping that this will lead them to a way out of the Lost Land. However, the feather is eventually tracked to a black Archaeopteryx. Turok shoots the animal, and the pair compare its feathers to that they found and, to their surprise, find them to be different, giving them hope of an escape yet.
