The Assault Rifle is a weapon that appears in a few games of the Turok series, making its first appearance in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. It is typically presented as an automatic rifle that fires three-round bursts.
The Assault Rifle's design in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter resembles that of an AK-47 assault rifle. It has the same magazine design as the AK-47 and also possesses a wooden surface design around its barrel and stock. This weapon shares ammo with the Pistol, and the rifle fires three-round bursts as its main and only function in this game.
The Assault Rifle of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil has a more high-tech/original look and resembles an IMI Uzi (although it does not seem to have a trigger, or trigger guard for that matter). Unlike its predecessor, this is multiplayer-exclusive and cannot be obtained in single-player. Finally, it is only obtainable in the Nintendo 64 version. It has the same three-round burst function as its predecessor.
In Turok: Rage Wars, the Assault Rifle has a black and grey design, closely resembling the H&K G41. For the first time, this version of the rifle has a secondary function. The primary function is a single-shot semi-automatic mode, while the secondary function makes the weapon fire on full-automatic mode with less accuracy. The Assault Rifle is unlocked in Single-Player mode by beating "Crossroads" with the Mantid Drone. Its secondary function is unlocked by beating "Warehouse" with the same character.
Unlike some weapons in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter that require two hands to wield (Shotgun, Pulse Rifle, etc.), this gun does not show Tal'Set's hands visibly holding the weapon, a common feature in first-person shooters at the time of the game's release.
The only game where the Assault Rifle does not appear in any form is Turok: Evolution.
