- For the weapon featured in Turok: Rage Wars, see Tek Crossbow.
- "The crossbow delivers a powerful punch in a compact size, which makes it perfect for a man on the go. A full selection of arrows and powerful 2 stage sniper zoom makes the crossbow a deadly weapon indeed."
- —Turok: Evolution manual[1]
The Crossbow is a weapon featured primarily in the multiplayer modes of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and Turok: Evolution. It is the multiplayer equivalent of the Tek Bow.
Appearance[]
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil[]
The Crossbow in Seeds of Evil is a futuristic version of a modern crossbow, with a steel frame and a red paint pattern similar to that of the Tek Bow.
Turok: Evolution[]
The Crossbow makes a return in Turok: Evolution with a complete redesign. This variant features a deep near-onyx coloration, with inverted limbs.
Gameplay[]
Turok 2: Seeds of Evil[]
The Crossbow is exclusive to the console version of Seeds of Evil, acting as the starting weapon for all players in multiplayer. Only able to fire standard arrows, the crossbow's ammo supply is unlimited. While body shots are not recommended, headshots are a guaranteed one-shot kill. Players should, however, use this weapon only if they are out of options.
Turok: Evolution[]
The Crossbow of Evolution is multiplayer-exclusive, and acts as an analogue to the Tek Bow found in the single-player portion of the game. As such, the Crossbow is able to utilize all three arrow types; it also features the Tek Bow's two-stage sniper zoom for long range engagements.
Pickups[]
Turok: Evolution[]
- "These arrows are steel shafted and come with a nasty tip. They can be used with any type of bow."
- —Arrow manual description[2]
- Weapon (Crossbow); Restocks 10 standard arrows.
- Explosive Arrows: Restocks 10 explosive arrows.
- Poison Arrows: Restocks 8 poison arrows.
History[]
Turok: Evolution[]
Shortly after arriving in Valiskus Maxima, Tal'Set would encounter a dying River Villager armed with a Crossbow. Despite his death, Tal'Set would not utilize the weapon.[3]
Production notes[]
- Main article: Cut content of Turok: Evolution.
A Crossbow-wielding variant of the Sleg Soldier was intended to be present in Evolution's single-player component, featuring blueish-platinum armor as opposed to the Soldier's silver and gold variants. Ultimately, this Sleg variant would be cut from the game, and the weapon would be relegated to Evolution's multiplayer component.[4]
