"A standard automatic rifle that can be equipped with optional silencer for quiet kill capability. Like the HOG, it can be Dual Wielded."
Turok manual[1]

The ORO FP9 SMG, also referred to as the SMG, is a fully automatic carbine manufactured by ORO that was first introduced during the events of Turok. The weapon was ubiquitous across military forces, being used by Whiskey Company and the Mendel-Gruman Corporation alike.

Appearance[]

The SMG is a short barreled, gray-black machine gun with an aesthetic very much akin to an MP5 SMG sans the foregrip. It features rudimentary iron sights. It features technical engravings on the side of its chassis, detailing its name and ammunition type.

Gameplay[]

Single-player[]

The SMG is the first fully automatic weapon found within Turok. Featuring a large ammunition capacity, a high fire rate, and reasonable accuracy, this weapon is one of the most effective within Turok's early encounters until the L66 pulse rifle is able to be used. The FP9 is able to be dual-wielded, and although its accuracy remains the same, it will decrease as the player moves. This affects both single and dual-wielded FP9s.

Like the 9mm handgun, the FP9 SMG possesses an ammo indicator in the form of a light on its chassis. The yellow light will turn on, perpetually blinking when twenty seven rounds of ammunition have been spent, subsequently shifting to blinking red when thirty six rounds of ammunition are spent, and finally turning to a static, unwavering red when the weapon's ammunition is fully expended, remaining that way until the weapon is reloaded.

Multiplayer[]

The FP9 retains its single-player statistics for multiplayer and is one of the most effective weapons the player can find. The weapon is usually found alone, making pairing two together rarer, however it can still be dual-wielded with Enforcer shotguns and handguns for added firepower.

Secondary function[]

This weapon features a distinct secondary function: a suppressor. The use of this will dampen the player's gunfire without impacting accuracy or damage in a tangible way. This function is ironically much more useful in multiplayer, as enemies within the single-player component can still detect a player using an FP9 with a suppressor attached.

Pickups[]

  • SMG: Restores 70 SMG bullets.
  • SMG Ammo: Restores 30 SMG bullets.

History[]

"Ever used one of these?"
"Once or twice.
"
—Logan and Joseph Turok on the FP9.

Shortly after Joseph Turok was introduced to Whiskey Company, Logan would provide him with an FP9, with the former showing a familiarity with the weapon. Following Whiskey's crash landing on the terraformed planet, Slade would inadvertently save Turok, with the FP9 becoming a part of both men's main loadout. Mendel-Gruman Grunts, Veterans, and Snipers would utilize the weapon commonly during their occupation of the planet as well, with the weapon being seen commonly from the time Whiskey arrived, to the moment its last three survivors left the planet.
