Orbital defense arrays [1] were utilized by the Mendel-Gruman Corporation in their occupation of the terraformed planet during the events of Turok.

As Whiskey Company's ship neared the backwater planet, a missile from a groundside orbital defense array would be used to shoot them down, destroying the ship, killing many members of Whiskey Company outright, and stranding the rest on the dinosaur-infested planet.
Production notes[]
Despite its name, the orbital defense array of Turok is a groundside location on the actual planet's surface, rather than an armed space station or armed satellite. They would be named in the press release detailing the game's Velociraptor Pack multiplayer downloadable content.[1]
